Informed Sport Certified Products Receive Honours at 2021 ESSNAwards

The European Specialist Sports Nutrition Awards (ESSNawards) were held on 9 December 2021. The virtual ceremony, sponsored by Informed Sport, celebrated the resilience and innovation of the sports and active nutrition industry and honoured the most successful sports nutrition products and campaigns throughout Europe. 

The event included presentations from: 

• Chris Whitehouse, Chairman and Managing Director of Whitehouse Communications
• Dr Adam Carey, Chair of ESSNA
• Team Jamaica Powerlifter Chloe Whylie
• Team GB Wheelchair Rugby player Martin Norris
• Terence O’Rorke, Business Development Manager at Informed Sport

Terence added about this year's event, "“Informed Sport is again pleased to help bring together the European sports nutrition industry for to recognise the very best work that brands have undertaken in the last year. As the sports nutrition market grows to accommodate the increasing numbers of consumers looking to improve their health and lifestyles, it has never been more important to ensure that new products are safe and compliant – which is where we hope to help all new brands and NPD endeavours.”

Among the many award winners chosen by a panel of judges were a number of Informed Sport certified products.

Best Product for Beginners 

Veloforte's Ultimate Starter Pack was awarded "Best Product for Beginners".  Included in the Ultimate Starter Pack are Informed Sport certified products, Vita, Vivo, and Attivo.  View all certified products from Veloforte. 

Best Protein Bar

Informed Sport certified Pro X from Nutrition X was named "Best Protein Bar" at the 2021 ESSNawards. Nutrition X has their entire product line certified, which can be viewed on their brand page. 

Best Protein Powder or Shake 

Informed Sport certified product The Whey+, from MyPRO received top honours for "Best Protein Powder or Shake".

Best Targeted Product

Given a highly commended award for "Best Targeted Product" was Informed Sport certified Pro Advanced Collagen from TRR Nutrition. The judges feedback stated that this is "a really well focused product that appears to have a reasonable amount of science behind it."

Best Pre-Workout Product

The award for "Best Pre-Workout Product" was given to Healthspan Elite's  Elite Kick-Start Caffeine Gum is tested and certified by Informed Sport.  The entire product range from Healthspan Elite is Informed Sport certified.

Runner up in this category was THE Pre-Workout from MyPRO, which is also certified by Informed Sport. 

Best Post-Workout Product 

Congratulations to Health Currancy Ltd's CurraNZ for winning "Best Post-Workout Product". In accepting the award, Health Currancy mentioned Informed Sport certification in helping the product gain more recognition. CurraNZ also received the same award at the 2020 event. 

Honoured with the highly commended runner-up position, were the Nova and Vita Protein Recovery Shakes from Veloforte. The judges mentioned flavour as a highlight when analysing this product. 

Best Free-From Product 

Healthspan Elite continued their success at the 2021 ESSNawards with their Veg-Omega 3 winning the "Best Free-From Product" award.

Best Sports Nutrition Ingredient 

Certified by our Informed Ingredient programme, Volactive UltraWhey Velicious was awarded with Best Sports Nutrition Ingredient with EnXtra as the runner-up in the category.  Informed Ingredient is a member of the INFORMED family and is a global quality assurance programme developed to minimise the risk of banned substance contamination with ingredients and raw materials intended for inclusion in sports nutrition products. 

Best Sports Nutrition Product

This year, two Informed Sport certified products shared the prestigious "Best Sports Nutrition Product" award. Beet It Sport Nitrate 8000 and CurraNZ 

Receiving the highly commended award for "Newcomer of the Year" was Informed Sport certified brand MelliGel. Judges felt their product "provides a very viable alternative to traditional energy gels."

Best Sports Nutrition Company
