UPDATED AS OF JULY 24, 2024
As of April 2, 2024, Amazon have amended their policy for listing dietary supplements on the US store. Sellers must now verify compliance to Amazon's requirements through a designated Testing, Inspection and Certification (TIC) organisation.
The INFORMED team can continue to support you to list your products on Amazon’s US store. We have partnered with a recognised TIC organisation and can provide you with a one-stop shop. This applies to both new and existing customers.
New Requirements
Dietary supplement products offered for sale in the Amazon US store must meet the following criteria:
For some specific dietary supplement classifications, e.g. sexual enhancement, weight management, sports nutrition/body building, products must also meet the following additional criteria:
Possible consequences of not meeting the new Amazon requirements can lead to further action, including removal of the relevant product listings.
It is important to remember that brand owners are not restricted as to which testing and verification partners they choose to demonstrate the individual requirements (such as label verification, microbial analysis etc.), only that testing should be submitted through one of the three listed TICs (ideally communication directly between the 3rd party partner and the TIC). The INFORMED team are on hand to guide you through these requirements and navigate this new process.
The INFORMED team can also support you in analysis of your supplement against the additional criteria via Product Adulterant Testing, which will assist your submission through your chosen TIC. This is particularly easy to arrange if you are already an INFORMED customer! If you are interested in utilising our Product Adulterant Testing service, please get in touch.
If you are unsure of who to use as your TIC, the INFORMED team work closely with UL Solutions, providing customers access to independent and professional services to help ensure that Amazon requirements for quality and regulatory compliance are met.
